It Takes 2- The Importance of Optimal Sperm Health

Throughout the last 14 years in clincial practice, I’ve seen the average semen analysis rates decline. This is not just my observation but an observation that is noticed with fertility testing from all around the world.
The semen analysis is a really improtant piece to consider when any couple is establishing their fertility potential. Sadly, I sometimes find that if a woman has been diagnosed with something like PCOS or endometriosis then the semen analysis is not always requested straight away.
What I also commonly see in clinic is that the semen analysis is done, reported as “ok” or perhaps a little low in the count (motility or morpholgy) but told not to really worry about it or they’re told there’s nothing they can do.
This frustrates me incredibly, having each member of the couple who’re trying to conceive at their peak health and fertility should be priority. The aim isn’t just for someone to get pregnant, it’s to have a healthy baby.
Lifestyle, health and dietary factors are all important to consider when trying to improve the health and viability of the sperm. This is all of upmost importance even if you’re going through IVF with ICSI. You want to make sure that the best of the best sperm can be used to try and help create a healthy embryo.

In this video I begin to explore the semen analysis, what is being looked at and what’s some further testing that you can look at doing. I’ll also touch on some of the health issues that are important for you to consider as well as toxins that need to considered.
If you have a semen analysis and want to have it assessed from optimal or want to have a plan created on how you can try to improve it for a natural conception or for IVF please book in for an appointment or send me an email if you have a question before you book in.
